Stakeholder Engagement and Materiality
JSW Steel conducts a structured double materiality assessment process to identify and prioritize environmental, social, governance, and economic issues that have the greatest relevance to the Company's business and stakeholders.
The Business Responsibility / Sustainability Reporting Committee of the Board is briefed on Stakeholder Engagement at least once a year. The Group Chief Sustainability Officer is responsible for overseeing the Stakeholder Engagement Process and Materiality Assessment Process.
The result of materiality assessment has been reviewed and duly signed off by one of the Board members. The Company has formal mechanisms in place to engage key internal and external stakeholder groups, including employees, investors, customers, suppliers, industry experts, regulators, community representatives, and sustainability specialists, in a constructive manner and collect valuable feedback. This proves to be a valuable input for the risk assessment, management process and strategy formulation process of the Company. This analysis helped us identify 18 high-priority material topics that are critical to our business and broader sustainability goals.
The outcomes of the materiality assessment are formally integrated into the Company's Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) framework, enabling the identification, assessment, and monitoring of sustainability-related risks and opportunities alongside broader business risks. Material topics identified through the assessment inform risk registers, mitigation planning, strategic decision-making, and long-term business resilience, ensuring that stakeholder priorities and sustainability considerations are embedded within the Company's risk management processes.
