We recognize the vital role businesses play in safeguarding human rights. To drive meaningful action, we concentrate on areas where our operations and value chains intersect with human rights. These focus areas are continuously monitored and strengthened through rigorous due diligence, regular employee and community feedback, and independent third-party evaluations.

At JSW, human rights are embedded into our business practices through a structured approach that prioritizes safe workplaces, fair labour practices, community well-being, ethical governance, and data privacy. We focus on creating inclusive and equitable work environments, eliminating child labour and strengthening supplier accountability, while ensuring access to health, sanitation, and livelihood opportunities for communities.

Human Rights Due Diligence

JSW Steel advances human rights through compliance with local laws and robust policies, programs, and grievance mechanisms. We proactively identify and mitigate risks via a structured Human Rights Due Diligence (HRDD) process aligned with global best practices, including UNDP, ICMM, and our COSO-based Enterprise Risk Management framework.

Assessment and Implementation

As part of our ongoing human rights program, we have:

  • Conducted a comprehensive Human Rights Impact Assessment (HRIA) and Human Rights Due Diligence (HRDD) across all Integrated Steel Plants in Vijayanagar, Dolvi, Salem, Raigarh, BPSL, and our Odisha and Karnataka mines.
  • Organized training and awareness sessions on human rights for all stakeholder groups and security personnel at our operations.
  • Achieved full coverage of our operations and iron ore mines under our human rights framework.
  • Proactively identified potential human rights risks and embedded accountability measures across all operations.
  • Initiated development of tailored Human Rights Management Plans for each site to address specific needs and risks.
  • Strengthened our culture of respect, integrity, and continuous improvement through these initiatives.
