Measuring Our Success

Cultural Heritage

At JSW Steel, we view cultural heritage as a living legacy that shapes our identity and inspires future generations. We are committed to safeguarding and celebrating India’s rich cultural tapestry through restoration projects, art precincts, museums, and active community engagement. By preserving traditions and promoting artistic expression, we strive to ensure that our cultural heritage continues to thrive and enrich lives for years to come.

Commitment

JSW values the unique cultural heritage, traditional knowledge, and rights of Indigenous Peoples in its operational areas and is committed to safeguarding these through inclusive engagement, Free, Prior and Informed Consent (FPIC), and culturally sensitive benefit-sharing. In line with international standards such as the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples and IFC Performance Standards, we integrate traditional ecological knowledge into biodiversity strategies. This helps us to avoid disruption of culturally significant sites, and ensures access to essential services like healthcare, education, and clean water.

Alongside these measures, we actively support initiatives that protect, restore, and celebrate cultural heritage sites and practices across India, reinforcing its commitment to sustainable development and community enrichment. These efforts are aligned with UN Sustainable Development Goal 11 – Sustainable Cities and Communities, which calls for safeguarding the world’s cultural and natural heritage for future generations.
